The Best Entertainment Money Can't Buy

I'd like to take this opportunity to document our childrens' nack for entertaining us (their parents) without even knowing it.  Below are a few of the latest happenings...

Derek:

Daddy discovered him on the brick border of a flower bed in the back yard a few days ago with his pants around his ankles, peeing.  When asked what he was doing, little Derek simply responded, "I need mud!"

At dinner a few nights ago Derek was assigning us all characters from Toy Story.  Benjamin was "Bullseye" Mommy was "Jesse" and Daddy was "Slinky."  When Tyler asked Derek who he was, Derek said he was "Slinky" too.  Tyler proceeded to ask him if he, himself, was "Slinky's" head or bum.  "Daddy, you're Slinky's tenders," was the quick response.  Well then...

His current favorite color is green. His favorite number is 4 and he frequently reminds us he'll be 4 on his next birthday.  He rotates between the following movies: "Cars," "Despicable Me," and "The Incredibles."  For now that is.  We'll see what movies he rotates to next.  However, "Cars" is the constant denominator in it all.
He still LOVES to help out and always wants to know what's going on and how he can participate.  A favorite new "tactic" is to say he can't do something because he's "sick."  Oh boy- already?!

He's taken after Mommy and LOVES peanut butter and trailmix.  Mommy think he likes running to (hopefully- time will tell).

Benjamin:

He took his first steps for Grandma and Grandpa Canova while Mommy and Daddy were on a romantic getaway for their 6th anniversary.  When coaxed to perform for Mommy and Daddy, his legs all-of-a-sudden became rubber.  Stinker!

He has a "swagger" when he crawls.  Oh yeah- Mr. Cool! He recently discovered slides and goes down the small one in our backyard over and over, every time reacting like it's the first.

Mr. Expressive cries out when Derek comes to do anything close to him.  Even if Older Brother bestows a hug, Benjamin braces himself for the worst.  He has a love-hate relationship with wrestling with Derek.  He is frequently bossed around by Derek, so the reactions are somewhat merited.

He is Mr. Social and flirts with the babysitters at church- Lucy Schaffer and Maleece Burnett.

He is so kind to books and loves looking through their pages.  He loves scrambled eggs, bread, cheese, graham crackers, grapes, grape tomatoes, cucumber, and can already feed himself quite efficiently with a fork or spoon and almost demands he not be spoon-fed by someone.  He's still my bundle of squishiness.

*So there you have it, proof that all the horror stories of parenting  are pointless.  Not that they don't occurr, but really people- the fun and joy out-weight the exasperations!  Well, most of the time...
